We strongly believe arts education should be available to all children and youth regardless of income or background. The Cappella Performing Arts Center, in collaboration with the Boys & Girls Club of Greater La Crosse and the La Crosse School District, is providing free after-school voice and music lessons for any Boys and Girls Club members. We want to help gifted and talented children whose families can't afford private lessons by offering scholarships.
Draw Alive is an interactive drawing game where kids can watch their drawings come to life on a big screen. Users pick out a coloring template, draw and color on it, write their name, and then walk over to a scanning cabinet where a computer renders their drawing and name on the big screen. As we enter our 25th year, please consider helping us install a truly unique interactive art exhibit in our region.

The mission of the La Crosse Chamber Chorale is to advance the art of choral music through performance, collaboration, community and education. The La Crosse Chamber Chorale is under the direction of artistic director, Dr. Christopher Hathaway. The Director's Fund is money set aside for use at the discretion of our artistic director. The fund may be used for guest artist collaborations, new music purchases, developing partnerships that expand educational outreach and promote community involvement, or special projects such as recording sessions.
LCT's 14ft box truck has reached it's end of life, and needs to be replaced. The truck is used to move set pieces, materials for sets, and may be used for the future revival of LCT's touring show for youth. Please help us replace our truck so that we can continue to put on high quality productions for the La Crosse Community!
Help us support middle and high school students from La Crosse County who want to attend our 2023 Hmoob Language and Culture Camp! This 10-day non-residential camp offers youth an opportunity to improve their Hmoob language skills; learn about Hmoob traditions, songs, and games; and build community. We provide daily roundtrip transportation and fresh, healthy Hmoob meals to all participants.
Karuna is a new organization working to create innovative supported housing options for people struggling with homelessness and housing insecurity in the La Crosse community. We hope to house our first residents by the end of September 2023. Residents will be required to pay rent based on 30% of their income but some may enter the program without income. Your donation will provide a rent scholarship for those residents while they work with case managers to access employment or benefits income. Thank you!
La Crosse Association for Home and Community Education participates in this statewide program to help provide early literacy for children enrolled in the Head Start classes. Money is raised through donations and grants to purchase the books so each child gets a copy and once a month readers go into the various classrooms to read the book to the children and distribute to them to take home.
Our ministry provides for people from all faith backgrounds through the help of over 20 faith communities. If they want to pursue a faith, we don't discriminate and do what we can to connect everyone to the faith and faith community of their choice during and after incarceration. While they are incarcerated, we provide indigent supplies, spiritual material, games, puzzles, books, magazines, bus tokens, warm clothes and video visits for spiritual support for all inmates.
The Women's Clothes Closet (WCC), a ministry of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, is seeking help to provide for women in our community. WCC is a welcoming, inclusive destination for women to select current, in-season clothing, sundry items and accessories at no cost. There a regular need to purchase items, including but not limited to undergarments, feminine hygiene products, athletic shoes and plus size clothing. In 2022, WCC welcomed 1290 visits.
With the official closing of Houska Park on March 15, and the end of Wisconsin Economic Recovery Act funding along with Food Share cuts, WINN will be in need of additional supplies including bottled water, ready to eat foods, basic clothing such as underwear, socks, t-shirts, gloves, hats, hand warmers, rain ponchos, hygiene items, basic first aid items, clothing items and shoes and boots - as well as facilitating referrals to local agencies for supportive services, employment opportunities, and housing assistance.
GROW is a nonprofit that has been connecting youth to healthy food and nature through hands-on garden education since 2012. Over 3000 children visited our gardens this year alone. Over time many of the raised beds, fences and sheds have weathered to the point of needing replacement, fresh paint, and/or mending. In some cases the gardens have outgrown their original storage or growing capacities, so more storage and garden beds are needed. Please consider donating to our 10th Anniversary Garden Refresh Project to foster a new decade of learning and GROWing for the youth of the greater La Crosse area.
Now that we are buying the property at 1607 North Street we will be assuming all responsibilities of lawn care and upkeep. Our lot is on a corner and there is a lot of ground for us to keep up. We feel if we had a riding lawn mower at Harry J Olson Senior Center we could save money by not having to hire a lawn service. Thank you for considering us.
As a result of the Myrick Park Center transformation, our Conservation Corps program has relocated to new space downtown for staff and conservation project equipment. We are requesting funds to purchase a refrigerator, two bikes (used by staff to travel between the office and MPC), a summer rental vehicle for support of local crews, and dumpster fees to clean out the barn and the area around Myrick Park Center.
Citizen Advocacy matches people in one - to - one relationships providing friendship, advocacy, guidance and further inclusiveness for all people in our community. To invest in one another as human beings makes for a stronger community. Citizen Advocacy finds people who most need advocates, then finds a community member who fills that role. The goal is to help build a loving and caring relationship where all people feel safe, know they are valued community members and have a source of true advocacy when needed.
For expectant parents of children with Down syndrome, any opportunity to speak with other parents who have experienced what you are experiencing can be invaluable. DSAW's Support Parent network is a statewide group of trained parent mentors available 24/7 to listen, share, answer questions, provide valuable information.
Systematic replacement of worn mattresses at camp with medical grade twin size mattresses. 175 new mattresses are needed for health and safety of Scouts, staff and leaders at camp. These new mattresses would have a fluid resistant cover, and are breathable, odor, stain and mold resistant. To begin meeting this replacement need we are asking for funding for 50 new mattresses at $95.15/each.
To supply local, low-income and first-generation, graduating seniors with the living and academic items they need to get started on their post-secondary adventure.
We are looking for help to cover transportation expenses like gas so that we can continue to remove barriers for program participants that don't have reliable transportation .
We hope to provide a "REACH BAG" for every First Responder vehicle in Holmen. A REACH BAG is a durable backpack filled with new children's books. It is used to comfort children in crisis situations.
Warm meals and good sleep are vital to the health and productivity of our community members. We are seeking funds to provide alternative ways of preparing meals for those who don't have stoves- such toasters, crock pots and microwaves. In addition, we will partner with PM Sleep Center to keep basic bed frames available to all our clients so mattresses aren't simply on the floor.
Funds are requested for a floor scale project for the new facility due to open Spring 2023. The floor scale is used to weigh and track all incoming food donations as required by many donors and federal programs. Tracking weight allows donors to know the value of their gift and the impact it has for the people on the receiving end. The floor scale will be set down into the floor to eliminate a tripping hazard. Project expenses cover the scale, pit frame, indicator, and installation.
We are a volunteer driven organization that connects parents to a network of support through family-like relationships with vetted volunteers. These funds would go toward purchasing supplies to organize our supply closets (storage bins, containers and storage racks) which consist of diapers, pajamas, socks, underwear, blankets, hygiene items, car seats, strollers, pack and plays. These items are extended to host families when hosting a child or families that are in need of specific items.
Our Handcraft Volunteers create items each year to give to local non-profit organizations for their clients' needs. The items that our handcrafters make are with yarn, fabric, fleece and batting. Each year we give out over 5,000 items during a 3-day Open House. Due to the increase cost of materials our budget is very limited and we want to make sure we have the materials our handcrafters need.

This event aims to highlight and celebrate local sustainability while having fun and mixing in a bit of competition. Funds help us keep this event free for all teams by covering technology costs, supporting staffing, providing prizes and marketing for a wider reach.
As a weekly performance space for local youth musicians, regional bands, and national bands, the Warehouse no-alcohol youth music space requires constant upkeep of an audio system. We currently have a desperate need for a new soundboard ($4950) to keep up with the demands of modern performances. A new "board" would also allow us to educate young musicians who are interested in the production end of the music business.
As part of our mission to keep pets healthy and in loving homes, we provide two free pet food pantries in La Crosse. Pantries are located on the 1800 block of Kane St and in front of Hamilton School at 1111 7th St S. We also supply free pet food in association with the Hunger Task Force free food distribution. In 2022, we distributed food to 527 pet families totaling over 1000 pets at Hunger Task Force events. We are asking for $3600 to stock our pet food pantries which cost approximately $300 each month.
HorseSense needs financial support to ensure the health of our therapy horses by means of natural grazing feeders. Natural grazing feeders allow horses to eat in a manner that is natural to their anatomy i.e. from the ground, thus supporting their gastrointestinal track and preventing serious and sometimes fatal digestive problems such as: ulcer, sand colic, parasites, weight control, TMJ, choke, etc.
Funding would purchase "starter" kits for our Guide Dog recipients. They consist of: crate, harness, leash, dog food, dog bed, flea/tick medication, toys, etc. In short, everything that the recipient needs to get a great start with his dog.
